Eric leads the Sustainable Energy for Economic Development program in sub-Saharan Africa and serves as a key adviser for RMI’s China program and industrial energy work. He is an expert in energy strategy development and implementation and product and market design innovation for electric utilities, governments, heavy industry, and corporations. Eric has worked with governments, national utilities, and the private sector across Africa as well as in the United States and China to develop actionable programs to improve the reliability, economics, and environmental impact of power systems and to accelerate deployment of off-grid solutions and distributed energy resources. Before launching the Sustainable Energy for Economic Development program Eric led RMI’s Reinventing Fire China industrial work that identified economic opportunities to save more energy in the Chinese industrial sector than is consumed by the entire U.S. industrial sector.
