Lead Sponsor

Power Africa is a U.S. Government-led partnership that harnesses the collective resources of over 170 public and private sector partners to double access to electricity in sub-Saharan Africa. Since 2013, Power Africa has helped deliver first-time electricity to 127.7 million people across sub-Saharan Africa. Power Africa-supported projects are generating more than 5,500 MW of new, cleaner and more reliable electricity, helping to mitigate climate change and end energy poverty. In 2021, Power Africa-supported renewable energy projects helped avoid 6.2 million tons of CO2 emissions, the equivalent of burning 6.8 billion pounds of coal.
